Well over in rip off Britian the excuse put about by the suppliers is there are not enough blind/vi people to justify lowering the price, if we did make our products more affordable,we would be seriously out of pocket..huh!? they seem to forget about the next generation of blind/vi children who will want and need the technology.. and $300 is feckin extortion ..I'd shame them into giving you a better deal..

Good but you could still put pressure on these extortionists to lower their prices..you owe it to the blind/vi comunity to make a difference.

I just think organisations like RNIB need to drop the prices one hell of a lot lower so us poor sods on benefits can afford the equipment for personal use at home or at work or wherever. I got this PC for £899 from Time whic[h apostrophe v]e now gone bust and it had everything on it, but the drawback came when I needed JAWS 6 put on it which set me back another £600. It's disgusting I think! We need speech technology, we're visually impaired for fuck's sake, so just buying JAWS leaves us out of pocket. That's why things like the reading machines, scanners, keynote companions, talking dictionaries ETc ETc are so bloody expensive. It's the speech technology which enables us to use them if we can afford it, so the prices have to come down. They need to come down, especially when we go to work and our incapacity benefits stop.
